This 7,500 SF interior design project for the 避难所 elementary school creates a vibrant and engaging educational environment designed to support students, teachers, and the broader community. As a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources, education, and support services for families in Atlanta, City of Refuge envisioned a learning environment that reflects its mission of opportunity, empowerment, and care.
The design approach emphasizes flexibility, visibility, and student engagement through bright, welcoming interiors that encourage both collaboration and focused learning. Classrooms, commons spaces, and dining areas were designed to feel open and energetic while maintaining durability and functionality appropriate for everyday educational use. A palette of warm neutrals accented with bold color creates a playful yet refined atmosphere that supports creativity and interaction throughout the school environment.
