The 200,000 SF expansion and renovation of the Classic Center includes performing arts venues, 15,000 SF of new pre-function space, an addition of 27,000 SF to the exhibition hall, and a 15,000 SF atrium that serves as the new lobby for the center. The architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture are integrated with the existing complex and site.
As a component of our services, Smallwood organized and led a series of public meetings to foster the participation of the community in the planning process. Since the Classic Center is a public reserve serving the citizens and businesses of the Athens-Clarke County area, this process was an essential component of stakeholder involvement.
